Working at Numeral - Unlock Business Innovation Through Payment Automation
  • Go

Numeral is a Paris-based fintech startup founded in 2021. Numeral is a payment automation platform for tech companies. It allows tech companies in the payments, insurance, lending, real estate, retail, and crypto space to automate their payments and scale their payment operations.

The founding team at Numeral are currently looking for curious and challenge-driven software engineers to build the foundations of the company, product, and technology, so we decided to ask Édouard (co-founder and CEO at Numeral), more details about their plans and the kind of team they want to build.

Tell us more about Numeral, what do you do?

Our mission at Numeral is to unlock business innovation through payment automation. We build a platform that allows tech companies to automate payments across banks and payment methods with a single API. Innovative companies in industries as diverse as payments, insurance, real estate, travel, or online retail will be using Numeral to process millions of payments in 2022.

What has been your biggest achievement over the last year?

We started Numeral in June 2021. Since then, we have assembled an outstanding tech team, have developed a prototype and are getting closer to launching the v1 of the product, and have signed our first customers.

What tech stack are you using?

Our tech stack is Golang and PostgreSQL for the backend. We will also deploy Kafka in 2022. We run on AWS and use Docker and Kubernetes.

We have decided to use Golang because it fits well with our micro service-oriented architecture and API-first product and has a very active dev community. We also like the language philosophy. It is both simple and powerful and really echoes our technical approach.

What is the tech team currently working on?

The team is putting the finishing touches to the v1 of the product. This covers major features needed by our first customers, as well as a robust security layer, a scalable and resilient infrastructure, tooling, and automation.

How would you describe the culture at Numeral?

We are driven by our mission and the relationships we create with our customers. We value integrity, ambition, ownership, continuous improvement, and teamwork. We are building an environment where people can thrive professionally and personally. We have a base office in Paris, but we are remote work-promoters and our tech team is distributed.

What is the interview process like at Numeral?

We want to make interviewing at Numeral a great experience. This means that every step of the process should be enjoyable and useful to the candidates - to learn about the product and the company, get to know the team, and ask any question you might have. This also means that the entire process should be smooth, short, and predictable.

Our interview process is the following:

  • Screening call with our Talent Acquisition Manager Alix
  • First interview with our co-founder & CTO Hichem
  • Technical test
    • Develop a lightweight bank integration in 3 hours
    • 30-minute debriefing session with our co-founder & CTO Hichem
  • Second interview with our co-founder & CEO Édouard
  • Third and last interview with Camille, our partner at Logic Founders (optional)
  • 10-minute reference calls with 2 former colleagues, managers, or reports

A typical interview process takes around 2 weeks, but can be accelerated if necessary.

Finally, why should someone join your team?

We are great people, we build a product for the future, and are tackling super interesting tech challenges - that’s 3 good reasons to join Numeral!

If that sounds interesting and you would like to join this exciting project you should check out their open roles here and apply now!
