Product Designer

Douro Labs seeks a talented designer to help structure their user research, establish a web app design framework and component library, and develop top-notch designs for the suite of applications we will deploy. You should be quality-obsessed, comfortable working autonomously, and should enjoy bringing a unique skill set to the table. You will be working with a highly talented team, and we each bring skills that the others don’t — you’ll be the main in-house product UI/UX designer and so you must be comfortable with establishing and leading the process. You should also be passionate about both learning from and teaching teammates who will come with very diverse skills and backgrounds.

You will be responsible for bringing web UI/UX design expertise to the team and enabling us to make the best product UX decisions and you will have a ton of trust and freedom to leverage your experience to drive us in the best direction. Knowledge of the nuances of the web — including designing features that work well across browsers, form factors, and accessibility requirements — is a must. So is comfort in navigating ambiguity and competing priorities. Experience in crypto and/or finance is not a requirement, but interest in them is, and experience would be ideal.

Remote Work: Our team is spread across the globe, from the US and South America to Europe and Asia, with an optional office in Porto, Portugal. Remote work is the norm here.

Your Responsibilities

• Design web3 applications to improve developer tools, network insights, and interactions with the ecosystems of the networks and projects we support.
• Establish a design system and component library for use across our ecosystem.
• Collaborate with our web engineers to deliver world-class products that provide value and enhance community and developer relationships.
• Create processes for user research to guide our product designs.
• Develop design processes and frameworks to scale our design output as we grow.

Desired Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of experience designing for the web.
• Strong intuition for building highly functional UX and attractive and accessible UI.
• Experience designing for cross-browser and cross-form factor (mobile + web) web apps.
• Experience in establishing and designing a design system and component library.
• Working knowledge of designing for accessibility and understanding of WCAG guidelines.
• Proven track record of delivering effective research-based web designs.
• (Nice to have) Experience working in web3/crypto.
• (Nice to have) Experience working in finance/trading.
