Role overview
Overview
We are looking for a network engineer interested in distributed ledger technology to build, improve, and scale our physical and cloud-based proof-of-stake validation infrastructure. As a blockchain infrastructure engineer, you will work with us in evaluating, deploying, monitoring, maintaining, and upgrading consensus & validation nodes on the most novel and experimental blockchain networks.
This role offers the chance to work closely with a team on compelling cross-disciplinary problems in computer science, cryptography, and economics, and enjoy a high degree of independence in working conditions and prioritization.
Responsibilities
- Keep track, evaluate, and provide insights into and analysis of novel proof-of-stake distributed ledger protocols
- Build, improve, maintain, and upgrade our validator software and hardware infrastructure
- Deploy blockchain consensus nodes in testnets and mainnets, monitor proactively for performance bottlenecks and unusual behavior, optimize performance in production
- Monitor network traffic and configure physical & virtual minimal-permission access control for fault isolation
- Automate and scale infrastructure configuration as networks grow
Qualifications
- Experience with administrating Linux systems and with configuration management (Ansible, Terraform, Docker)
- Experience with cloud platform services and tooling (GCP, AWS)
- Experience with metrics collection and monitoring
- Working understanding of TCP/IP network stack
- Online availability for unforeseen remotely-fixable issues
- Travel availability when necessary for in-person fixes
- Self-motivated & self-organized
Bonus Qualifications
- Prior experience and interest in blockchain technology
- Experience in building and scaling distributed, highly available systems
- Experience in deploying and scaling high-performance database software
- Interest in and experience with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs)

Competitive compensation in a negotiable mix of salary and equity. Remote or local (Zürich/Zug, Berlin). When remote, located in Central Europe.
